John Gaines, Flooring Specialist

John is a native RVA’er and a veteran salesman at L&M, having started in the spring of 1989. He has seen many trends come and go and would like to say that he has “been there, done that, seen it,” but there is always something new and exciting to see and learn. He specializes in flooring installations for insurance restoration and has worked in this field for nearly fifteen years, helping families return to “normal” after often-tragic events and often dealing directly with their insurance carriers.

When asked what he likes most about working at L&M Carpet One Floor and Home, he replied “I truly enjoy helping my insurance customers get their feet back on solid floors. Water, storm, fire and the many other forms of damage can leave a customer’s home and business in complete disarray. So when I’m able to exceed expectations by providing beautiful new floors in an organized fashion, going home at the end of the day is that much more gratifying.”

Outside of L&M, John likes to participate with his family in his church’s music program and other church activities and work on his cars (both full-size and scale models).

Kameron Moore, Flooring Specialist

Kameron joined our team in 2021 and specializes in guiding his customers to the perfect flooring for their home and lifestyle. Through other positions, he has learned the importance of managing multiple aspects of a project in order for it to run smoothly from start to finish as well as team work and communication.

When asked what he loves about working in flooring, he states, “What I love most is the change I can help bring to someone’s life! For some, new flooring is a necessity due to circumstance, but for others it’s a matter of self-expression. I understand that when you’ve lived on the same floor for 15+ years, a change can seem pretty daunting! That’s why I am happy to use my position and expertise to guide my customers in a way that prioritizes long term happiness!”

Outside of work, Kameron loves to exercise, play music, and make music videos. In fact, he is working on learning his fifth instrument! One day he hopes to create something that touches the souls of others the same way music and movies have impacted him!

Brittany Engle, Flooring Specialist

Brittany, a member of our sales team since 2021, guides every customer into finding the perfect floor to bring their whole home together. Having graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Fashion Merchandising, she has a keen eye for design. Brittany believes that there is something so calming about perfectly designed rooms.

“What I love most about working at L&M is having the opportunity to help my customers bring their vision of their perfect home to life. There are always new developments and processes that continue to create even better options so that everyone is able to find the perfect floor for them and checks off all their boxes.”

In her free time, Brittany enjoys curling up with a good book, spending time with family and friends, and getting lost on a scenic hike.

Sarah Spence, Flooring Specialist

Sarah joined our sales team in 2021 and provides top-notch customer service and expertise when assisting each of her customers. Through her previous positions in customer service industries, Sarah understands the ins-and-outs of these projects and how to manage them from the initial design consultation to installation and beyond.

She shares, “I love helping to create a design style that my customer will be in love with and getting to see their excitement after installation. I love working at L&M because of the opportunity to work with people who genuinely care about helping their customers and adding value to the community.”

Outside of L&M, Sarah loves caring for her four dogs: Abby (chocolate lab), Kai (Aussie-Doodle), Elwood (Bichon Frisse), and Queenie (toy poodle).

Alexa DuKate, Flooring Consultant

Alexa was born and raised in Hanover County and graduated from high school in 2013. In 2016, she graduated from Liberty University with a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design and a minor in Business. Right after graduation Alexa worked in retail selling furniture and used her design background for each project and customer. Now she’s using this same experience at L&M to provide customers with the best shopping experience possible. When asked what she likes most about working at L&M Carpet One Floor and Home, she replied, “I love helping my customers find the best flooring solutions and styles for their home. Every project is different and allows for creativity. It’s exciting to see their visions come to life!”

Outside of L&M, Alexa enjoys playing music and volunteering at her church. She also enjoys hiking and spending time with family and friends.
